The Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research

AHRQ Post Doctoral Fellowship Program

The Center was among the first recipients of a health services research post-doctoral fellowship training grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The Health Services Research Fellowship in Gerontology and Geriatrics is designed to train aspiring clinicians and Ph.D. scientists in research methodology, gerontology, geriatrics and long-term care policy. Fellows work in interdisciplinary research teams with senior investigators.

Through academic project-based training and experience, fellows are exposed to all aspects of health services research, as it applies to the care of elderly and chronically ill populations, preparing them for research careers in health services. The program consists of three major components:

Fellows interact with faculty and students from a wide range of disciplines, including applied mathematics, biology, demography, family practice, medicine, political science, psychiatry, public policy, sociology, and statistical sciences.
