Rhode Island ranks 4th in the United States in the amount
of elderly per capita, with one of the highest rate of
elderly persons dying in nursing homes.
It is projected
that in 2020, 40% of Americans will die a nursing home.
Currently in Rhode Island, 38% of non-traumatic deaths take place in the nursing home (the national average is 20%).
