Beginning May 2006, Nancy conducted 20 in-depth telephone interviews with Nursing Home Administrative Directors in and around the New Orleans area that were affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The purpose, of which, was to evaluate the “lessons learned” when directors are forced to make decisions relating to resident evacuation prior to the Hurricanes. Following these interviews, an extensive focus group discussion with the administrators was conducted by David Dosa, MD, MPH and Nancy in New Orleans. Their abstract was recently submitted to JAMDA- Journal of American Medical Directors Association.
Extensive interviewing experience beginning in 1993 as a research interviewer for numerous Health Care studies which have included the following: Mammogram and Pap Tests Regularity, Younger and Older Women Breast Cancer Studies, Do-Good Nursing Homes Achieve Good Outcomes, End of Life Care,Hospice in Nursing Home, The Impact of the Closure of Harvard Pilgrim Health, and States Policies regarding Hospitalization from Nursing Homes. Nancy has also been instrumental in providing assistance in the Post BBA Changes in Rural Hospital Long Term Care Strategies as well as the Timely Access Hospice Care, and Progeria Research Foundation studies.
Ms Grossman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY, and is a former high school French and English teacher; Recipient of a National Government Grant to pursue French studies at St.Lawrence University and Quebec,Canada. Nancy is the mother of two children (Charlie and Cara) and has recently been blessed with a new grandson, Brendan Fennell. She sometimes models for commercials, most notably for Cardi's portraying the mother from the show "Providence."
