Mr. Hiris' training is in systems analysis and multi-vendor integration, advanced data base design and statistical analysis in quantitative methods in sociology. His duties include maintaining LAVC-clustered VMS systems, an NT Domain, BackOffice and database services, network and server security, performance audits and VMS to mainframe and Unix conversion links. He selects and maintains database software and statistical packages used on the VMS and PC systems and develops and implements new statistical procedures for these packages. Mr. Hiris acts as database administrator for a variety of projects, performing project-specific statistical analysis and designing and implementing the Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research's central data archives facility. His major research interests involve the development of statistical databases and knowledge bases, along with their attendant software support and user interfaces; automated systems management; office automation; formal language analysis and implementation; survey and complex sample analysis; and the synthetic graphical display of statistical system characteristics.
