Dawn Hamel Maguire holds a M.S.W. in Social Work from the Rhode Island College School of Social Work and a B.A.in Psychology from Rhode Island College. Ms Maguire has a background in administrative and clinical social work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Employed at Brown since July 2007, Ms. Maguire works as a Project Coordinator with Dr Allen and Dr Miller. Currently Ms Maguire coordinates the Brown University Dementia Research Database Project in conjunction with memory clinic staff at Butler, Memorial and RI Hospitals. She also coordinates research activities for Dr Allen’s National Cancer Institute (NCI) funded study of doctor-patient communication regarding fertility issues prior to cancer treatment.

Prior to joining Brown University Ms. Maguire worked as a Program Developer with a Local Community Action Agency. As a Program Developer she assisted in the planning and development of a regional employment and training initiative designed to meet the needs of RI’s incumbent workforce as well as a pilot program designed to meet the needs of RI’s DCYF kinship foster families.  Preceding this employment she worked on a NIMH funded Longitudinal Study of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) at Butler Hospital as well as The Johns Hopkins University Genetics Study of OCD.

Ms. Maguire is an active member of The National Association of Social Workers and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
