Dr. Resnik received her Ph.D. in physical therapy from Nova Southeastern University, her MS in physical therapy from Sargent College, Boston University, and her BS from Hampshire College. Dr. Resnik has a clinical background in physical therapy and is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in physical therapy. She completed a two year AHRQ funded postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research and was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health in July 2004. She is also a Research Health Scientist at the Providence VA Medical Center (PVAMC), and has clinical responsibilities at the PVAMC amputee clinic.

Dr. Resnik's research interests include measurement of outcomes in disability and rehabilitation, prevention and treatment of disability, service delivery and clinician factors associated with patient outcomes in rehabilitation, and the role of assistive technology and environmental modifications. Dr. Resnik works closely with Dr. Susan Allen and other faculty member at Brown's Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research.

Dr. Resnik is currently working on four research projects. Her RO3, Culture and Mobility, funded by the NIA, is exploring the influence of culture on attitudes and social norms regarding aging, mobility impairments and use of assistive devices for mobility. Her RO3, Profiling Providers of Outpatient Physical Therapy, funded by NICHD, is developing methodologies to profile physical therapy clinics by quality of care for patients with lumbar spine syndromes. Dr. Resnik's study of Community Reintegration of Injured Soldiers which aims to develop a new population specific measure of community reintegration, is supported by the Department of Veterans Affairs as part of a Health Services Research and Development Targeted Research Enhancement Program. She is also part of the clinical and translational core of the Providence VA's Center for Restorative and Regenerative Medicine, where she is conducting a study to compare the psychometric characteristics of health related quality of life, and prosthetic outcomes measures for lower extremity amputees.
